2. As in the cases similar to that Mr. M. Jones referred to in my despatch 107/20 of May 1889, Mr. Jameson, not having completed six years' resident service, is not strictly entitled to any vacation leave beyond the ordinary school vacations. But as this leave is granted on urgent private affairs, I consider that five months' vacation leave in addition to the school vacations may be allowed on the understanding that he will not be entitled to a repetition of this period of vacation leave in six years from the present time, but only after the completion of six years' service altogether.
3. I consider, however, that as the two months' full pay leave is, according to the rules laid down in despatch No. G of 5th April 1887, intended to be in addition to that part of the school vacations, the month of August, which is a school vacation,
